Kio Kio New Zealand
20 Nov
We are so excited for our new line of body products. Kio Kio is a natural body care line founded on a respect for natures innate power to renew and regenerate. Kio Kio is made in New Zealand using only the purest spring water combined with botanical extracts and certified organic ingredients. Kio Kio provides a beautifully natural solution for balanced healthy skin renewal, everyday. Kio Kio’s natural plant-based oils and butters actually allow your skin to do as nature intended – to breathe and achieve correct moisture balance according to individual needs
“Our desire with Kio Kio is to put the gorgeous into green and to bring more people to the sustainable fold without feeling that they are making a sacrifice to do so.”
Fiona Terry and Liz young Founders and creators of Kio Kio
Kio Kio is taking steps to offset its carbon emissions through manufacturing entirely in New Zealand supporting tree-preserving programmes and will be achieving carbon neutral status as soon as possible. They are also setting aside funds to renew the rainforests of New Zealand.
Kio Kio provides 4 wonderful scents
Citrus Petal and tarate:
Fresh, clean and uplifting. Tarata was traditionally used as a perfume in thermal pools to revive tired muscles. The Tarata tree has sweet, lemon scented leaves and flowers that were used as potent, scented healing oil when mixed with other native botanicals – and it was also sometimes used as an aphrodisiac
Pacific Tiare and Tikauka:
White flowers and citrus combine in this sparkling Pacific Ocean fragrance. Sweetly scented Ti Kauka is naturally cleansing and nurturing for the skin. Ancient people regarded this palm tree as a plant of good luck and fertility. It was traditionally used to heal skin.
Rainforest and Koromiko:
Fragranced like a morning walk in the forest after it has rained. Koromiko renews and smoothes stressed skin. Koromiko was traditionally used in ritual ceremonies, as well as for healing skin complaints.
Frangipani and Puriri:
Frangipani’s rich, heady perfume infuses the air with its warm tropical notes. Puriri is a natural hormonal balancer and was also traditionally used to treat sore throats as well as common aches and pains
Frye Boots
2 NovFrye Boots, we love them. they are cool, stylish and timeless. But really, why are they so great?
What makes frye boots better than others?
Frye was founded in 1863 by John A Frye. The Frye company is the oldest continuously operating shoe company in the US. While some of the boots are still made in the US, many are made in Mexico. It takes 190 steps to make a Frye boot. WHAT? Think about that…. 190 steps between the leather tanning, cutting sewing and lasting. No matter what, there is a hand made element to every boot and shoe. Some of Fryes styles have been in the line for 10 years. If Frye can keep selling something for 10 years, it is still in style 10 years later… Remarkable. This makes their boots worth every penny. Here are a few that we love:
- Miranda back zip in black
- Celia x-stitch in olive
- Shirley strappy in tan
- Melissa button in black, dark brown and grey
- Carmen short lace black
- Veronica slouch black
- Harlow bootie black

CASHMERE
The queen of knits….
Why?
Where does it come from?
Cashmere is a wool derived from the undercoat fibers of the Kashmir goat. High quality cashmere fibers come from goats raised in inner Mongolia where temperatures reach below -40 degrees Celsius. The goats coat grows finer in such low temperatures. Kashmir goats are also raised in Scotland, china and the USA but because of the temperature Mongolia wins for finest cashmere.
In the US in order for anything to be labeled cashmere
the fibers must be no larger than 19 microns.
You know how some cashmeres are so much softer than others? The itchier versions come from lower grade and or coarser fibers, or it is from the dying process. Cashmere, naturally is white, grey or brown. In order to get all the great colors we love it has to be dyed and the
dye can ruin the plush soft feel.
Here is some of our great selection of cashmere….
- Qi Cashmere $457
- Velvet $350
- Vkoo $375
- Qi $253
- Vkoo $326
The Prince on Cedros Avenue!
18 OctStrollers on Cedros Avenue in Solana Beach got a bit of royal-watching in over the weekend when Prince Harry was spotted heading into the Belly Up to take in a show by Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and Vokab Company.
The 27-year-old prince, a British Army captain, started training earlier this month at the Naval Air Facility at El Centro, Calif. — a two-hour drive from San Diego — where he is flying in Apache helicopters in the desert near the Mexican border. The facility hosts allied troops throughout the year because its hot, dusty conditions replicate Afghanistan’s harsh environment and the clear weather allows for constant flying.
The first hint that the Belly Up’s Meryl Klemow had that the venue was about to get a royal visit came early on Saturday night, when she got a call from the FBI.
“They just wanted to make sure that if he was to come to the club, that we would have a reserved area for him,” Klemow said.
Harry arrived at about 9 that night with 10 or 12 people in tow. After they entered, Harry, who was wearing jeans and a ball cap, headed for a VIP section of seating that had been pre-reserved for the prince, who is third in line for the British throne. And then he relaxed — it may have helped that the club had a no-photos rule on Saturday night.
“He was very cute — he looked just like a cute college junior boy to me,” Klemow said. “He was really enjoying the music — he was watching Vokab Company, and he was jamming to Karl Denson, too, having some fun. He was dancing in the VIP area…. He definitely had a tequila shot — myself and the general manager did a shot with him — and other than that, maybe just a drink of two.”
The prince appeared to avoid any romantic entanglements, said the Belly Up spokeswoman.
“He was by himself mostly — there were two girls in the group,” Klemow said. “They were just part of his group, hanging out with him and the other guys. He was self-contained — there were no other girls in the loft,” Klemow said, adding, “they stayed till about 1:15 a.m. — we put on the World Cup rugby game for them. At the end of the night, I gave him a Belly Up hat and two girls’ T-shirts, and he was very gracious.”

Fashionista’s First
5 OctI kinda feel like I am back in high school English. I have been sent home with an assignment, 3 pages double spaced blog style for Cedros Soles. Hmmmmm, where do I start? I mean, at least I don’t have to do the research. The information is all up here in this head of mine. The trick is putting it to type and making it interesting.
As you might be able to tell, I am not really the writer type. In fact, I ‘m not that artistic at all. I see myself as really lucky to have discovered this great gift of merchandising and buying for a boutique. I have always loved how people dressed, had a passion for the unusual. In fact, when I was young I bought everything at thrift stores. My friends thought I was crazy, the things I wore…. Then, months later they would be wearing it store bought. I hadn’t ever really thought it meant anything. Today, I get to put that into my passion. I have a lot of incredible help along the way. The beautiful thing about Cedros Soles is that we have so many amazing personalities that help bring our great product mix together. We work diligently to bring you product to love and to wear.
These are our findings.
